ONE MAGICAL EXPERIENCE
The skies above Trikala are about to fill with colour.
The Thessaly Balloon Festival 2026 returns this October — bigger, more spectacular and more magical than ever.
For the first time, the world of hot air balloons meets one of Trikala’s most iconic landmarks, Matsopoulos Mill – the Mill of the Elves, creating a unique five-day experience for locals and visitors alike.
From 14 to 18 October, colourful hot air balloons and their crews will take to the Thessalian skies, while every afternoon the historic Mill will transform into a vibrant setting filled with light, entertainment and unforgettable experiences.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Hot air balloon flights over the spectacular landscapes of Thessaly, weather permitting, tethered balloon rides for visitors at the Festival grounds, and breathtaking Night Glow shows, when illuminated balloons light up the night and create a truly magical atmosphere.
16–17–18 OCTOBER | THREE EVENINGS FULL OF EXPERIENCES
On Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, the Thessaly Balloon Festival comes alive with an even richer programme of entertainment.
Alongside the balloons and the spectacular Night Glow shows, Matsopoulos Mill will host live music, shows, happenings and a variety of activities for visitors of all ages.
And because every memorable experience deserves great flavours, the Festival will also feature a dedicated Food & Beverage Experience, offering a selection of food and drinks throughout the evening.
Come early, stay late, enjoy the atmosphere and experience an evening where hot air balloons, light, music, flavours and entertainment all come together in one extraordinary setting.
The full programme of shows, music and special activities will be announced gradually as we get closer to the Festival.
